PeopleSoft, Cloud, AI, and the future of ERP
I'm excited to introduce my new blog on Substack: PeopleSoft Cloud. I created this space with a clear purpose: helping PeopleSoft professionals, IT leaders, and ERP technologists navigate the shift from traditional ERP to cloud-driven platforms.
For years, PeopleSoft has powered institutions and enterprises around the world. While the term "legacy" often gets tossed around, the reality is that PeopleSoft is still highly relevant, flexible, and mission-critical. The real challenge isn't whether PeopleSoft has a future. It's more about how organizations can modernize and operate PeopleSoft effectively in today's cloud-first world.
That's the gap this blog will explore.
What You'll Find Here
This blog won't be another repository of patch notes or generic ERP news. Instead, PeopleSoft Cloud will focus on:
Innovative cloud strategies: Exploring options beyond OCI and what hybrid ERP really means for your environment.
Modernization practices: From Kubernetes and containerization to infrastructure automation with Terraform, Chef, and GitLab.
Observability and AI: Leveraging tools like OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry, and machine learning to improve support and monitoring.
Leadership and decision-making: Providing IT leaders with practical frameworks to evaluate cloud moves and optimize PeopleSoft's role in the enterprise.
Each post will be grounded in real-world experience. Successes, failures, lessons learned, and the occasional humor that comes from working with complex enterprise systems.
Why This Blog Matters
The cloud conversation is only getting louder, and PeopleSoft often gets overlooked in the noise. But for institutions that rely on it every single day, the decisions being made now will shape operations for the next decade. My goal with this blog is to create a place where PeopleSoft isn't treated as an afterthought, but as a platform worth investing in, modernizing, and extending.
If you're a PeopleSoft admin, ERP leader, or just curious about how traditional enterprise systems are evolving, you'll find something valuable here. I invite you to follow along, share your experiences, and challenge a few assumptions along the way.
Welcome to PeopleSoft Cloud. Let's reimagine what's possible together.
